Cyprus

Information about the venue, regions, airports, transportation and general information about Cyprus and recommendations.

When

Saturday 13th of June 2026

Where

The wedding reception venue and ceremony location are located in the Protaras area of the Famagusta district.

If you’d like to stay close to the wedding party, we’ll be booking a villa from 11–16 June 2026 near this area — it’s conveniently located between the ceremony and reception venues.

Alternatively, you can stay in Protaras town, which is next to the venue. For longer stays, villas tend to be more affordable and comfortable than hotels.

Either way, everyone’s welcome to drop by and hang out at the wedding party villa!

Airports

Cyprus has 2 international airports; Larnaca and Paphos

Larnaca (LCA): Larnaca International Airport, located in Larnaca City, is the largest airport in Cyprus and the closest to the wedding venue area (Protaras), approximately a 50-minute drive away.

Paphos (PFO): Paphos International Airport is situated just outside Paphos City on the island’s west coast, around a 2-hour drive from Protaras.

Transport

Public Transport:
Cyprus isn’t known for amazing public transport, as most locals rely on cars, so intercity buses can be limited. That said, the Protaras–Ayia Napa area has very frequent, reliable and inexpensive local buses, making it super easy to get around during your stay for the wedding.
For longer distances, Intercity Buses connect the main cities, and Kapnos Airport Shuttle offers a very reliable, reasonably priced service between the airports and major towns. It’s definitely worth checking timetables in advance, as routes aren’t 24/7.

• Taxis:
Taxis in Cyprus can be quite pricey, especially for travel between cities. Within tourist areas, short trips tend to be much more affordable. Bolt is now available in Cyprus too, so you can easily request a ride through the app if needed.

• Car Hire:

Hiring a car is very popular in Cyprus and usually quite affordable. Both airports offer convenient pick-up and drop-off options, and you’ll find plenty of rental offices in all major towns and tourist areas. It’s a great choice if you want the freedom to explore at your own pace. Just a heads-up — as a former British colony, driving is on the left-hand side of the road!

FAQs

Do you have a gift registry?

No, we don't have a traditional Western gift registry. In Cyprus, it's customary to give a monetary gift in an envelope. This thoughtful gesture helps the couple begin their new life together and contributes towards the wedding costs — and it also saves you valuable suitcase space if you were planning a wedding gift!

Is there a dress code?

We’d love for guests to wear formal attire, but do keep in mind that June in Cyprus can be quite warm. Light, breathable fabrics like linen are a great choice.

How do I get to the ceremony/venue?

We’ll be providing a bus for guests — you can reserve your spot by signing up through the RSVP form.

How long does a Greek wedding ceremony last?

A Greek Orthodox ceremony typically lasts about 45 minutes. While we're not religious ourselves, the service is a symbolic nod to our Greek heritage. It includes beautiful traditions like the crowning (Stefana) and a ceremonial walk around the altar. The whole thing is chanted in ancient Greek — so even if you don't catch a word, it’ll still sound grand and mysterious.

Will there be food at the reception?

Absolutely! We’ll kick things off with a welcome cocktail hour and canapés, followed by a buffet dinner at 20:00. And don’t worry — there’ll be a late-night snack to keep everyone fuelled on the dance floor!

Do they speak English in Cyprus?

Yes — while Greek is the official language, English is widely spoken across Cyprus, especially in tourist areas. As a former British colony (boo Imperialism), English is taught in schools and used in many public services, so you'll have no trouble getting around or being understood.

How hot does it get in Protaras, Cyprus in June?

In June, Protaras enjoys warm, sunny weather with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 28°C to 33°C. Evenings are pleasantly cooler, usually between 18°C and 23°C. Being a coastal town, Protaras tends to feel a bit fresher thanks to the sea breeze — so while it’s warm, the coastal breeze offers some welcome relief from the heat.

Can I drink tap water in Cyprus?

While tap water in Cyprus is treated and technically safe to drink, it’s generally preferable not to. Most locals opt for bottled water, and it's widely available and affordable. Tap water is perfectly fine for brushing your teeth or washing food, but for drinking, we recommend sticking with bottled — just like the locals do.

What’s the currency in Cyprus?

The currency in Cyprus is the Euro (€). You’ll find that most places — including restaurants, shops, and taxis — accept card payments, but it’s always handy to have a bit of cash on you for smaller purchases or in more rural areas. ATMs are widely available, and contactless payments are commonly used, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Are children invited to the ceremony/reception?

We’re keeping the celebration adults-only, and invitations are intended for the names listed on the envelope. We hope you understand and can enjoy a little getaway just for you!
